Unleash your creativity in my online workshop introducing you to the captivating world of laser engraving! I will show you how to create a design to create a personalized keychain. I am a high school student and this class is ideal for children. These keychains will be cut from 3 mm Baltic birch plywood or acrylic.

Class Description

I will introduce you to the world of graphic design with a focus on creating designs suitable for laser engraving. We will start with an overview of graphic design principles such as balance, contrast, and visual hierarchy. After this we will go through a tutorial on Inkscape, learning how to navigate the interface, and create basic shapes. Then we will optimize the designs for cutting and engraving on the laser. We will convert their designs into the correct file formats and set up their artwork with the proper cut and engrave lines. After this I will explain the different settings on the laser engraver, such as power, speed, and focus, and how they affect the final product. Students will be guided through the process of using laser engraver software like Glowforge to input their designs and adjust settings for different materials. Then I will do a live demonstration of the laser cutting and engraving process on a Glowforge. The class will conclude with a Q&A session to address any remaining questions.

1) Glowforge Laser Engraver Fundamentals: Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Glowforge laser engraver, including its components, safety features, and basic operation. Learn how to set up the machine for engraving tasks. 2) Designing for Laser Engraving: Explore creative design principles for laser engraving projects. Learn to convert ideas into digital formats suitable for the Glowforge machine, including importing graphics, adjusting settings, and optimizing designs for precision engraving.

I am a high school student who has been creating and selling my laser artwork since middle school. I love making and would love to help you get started using the Glowforge. A calendar link to confirm the schedule will be sent to you in your confirmation email. At the end of class I will mail out the keychain.
